Children travel free of charge or at lower prices on family holidays by train through Europe. You can buy tickets online via the timetable or in an SBB Travel Centre.
The Swiss Junior Travelcard and Children’s Co-Travelcard for children aged at least 6 and under 16 also pay for themselves when used for travel to France, Germany and Austria.
Junior Travelcard Junior Travelcard. The travelcard for children aged at least 6 and under 16 who travel accompanied by their parents. Just CHF 30 per child per year.Children’s Co-Travelcard Children’s Co-Travelcard. The travelcard for children aged at least 6 and under 16 who travel accompanied by an adult. Just CHF 30 per child per year.
International tickets for children aged under 16 travelling alone are only available at ticket counters or from the SBB Contact Center (0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).

- Your child travels in their own seat at a very low flat rate with the “Baby Pass” fare.
- Children and young people under the age of 16 with a Children’s Co-Travelcard or Junior Travelcard can benefit from attractive prices for a single journey from Switzerland to France and vice versa on TGV Lyria trains. The offer is valid in 1st and 2nd class. Children must be accompanied by a person aged 16 or over. The companion can take up to four children or young people with them on the TGV Lyria journey at the fixed low price.
- Children without a discount card between 4 and under 12 years old travel at a reduced fare, subject to availability.
- Children between 4 and under 6 years old do need a Children’s Co-Travelcard or a Junior Travelcard to benefit from fixed prices for children.
- The fixed price for children is valid for the whole year.
- 0 to under 4 years old: your child travels without their own seat free of charge.
- 0 to under 4 years old: if you would like to book a seat for your child, they must travel on the ‘Baby Pass’ or ‘Forfait Bambin’ fare at a fixed low price. On night trains, you pay a surcharge for the couchette berth for the child.
- 4 to under 12 years old: children travel at half the fare price of an adult, subject to availability.
- 0 to under 4 years old: children travel free of charge without their own seat.
- 4 to under 12 years old: children can generally travel on a discounted ticket.
Your child travels free of charge without their own seat.
- Children aged under 6 with their own seat get a 50% discount on the standard, Smart2 and Smart offers.
- Children aged at least 6 and under 16 get a 50% discount on the standard, Smart2 and Smart offers.
- Children with a Junior Travelcard or Children’s Co-Travelcard pay nothing on the Swiss section of the route and 50% less for the standard offer on the Italian section of the route. The offer is valid when accompanied by an adult aged 16 or over holding a fully flexible ticket.
Conditions:

- Regular offer: Children up to the age of 15.99 with a Junior Card or Children's Co-travelcard travel free of charge on the Swiss section of the route when accompanied by a person over the age of 16. Children up to the age of 14.99 travel free of charge on international routes when accompanied by a person over the age of 15.
- Saver offer Flex: Children up to the age of 14.99 are included in the price of the Flex savings offer when accompanied by a person over the age of 15. Up to four children per accompanying person are permitted.

- Children up to 4 years travel free of charge and do not require an Interrail pass. However, you may be required to sit your child under 4 years on your lap during peak travel times.
- Children between 4 and 11.99 years travel free of charge with a Child Pass. A child must be accompanied by at least one person with an Adult Pass, a Youth Pass or a Senior Pass at all times. A maximum of two children can travel per companion. The companion does not need to be a member of the same family; they can be anyone over the age of 18.
